Eagle Aquaculture
Eagle Aquaculture, Inc. is a subsidiary company formed by Aetos and a group of private investors. The mission of Eagle is to develop, produce and sell hybrid catfish fingerlings using Auburn University’s Hybrid Catfish Technology.
The hybrid is created by cross-breeding channel catfish female with blue catfish male. What results is a fish that exhibits significant advantages when compared to conventional farm raised catfish. Some strengths unique to the hybrid include:
- Superior growth rate and production
- Enhanced disease resistance
- Improved feed conversion
- Easier seining
- Higher dress-out
Auburn is an equity partner in both Eagle and its parent company Aetos. Eagle retains sole commercial rights to the Auburn Hybrid Catfish Technology.
