Eagle Aquaculture
Eagle Aquaculture, Inc. is a subsidiary company formed by Aetos and a group of private investors. The mission of Eagle is to strengthen the U.S. hybrid catfish industry through the development and application of proven spawning aids and hatchery management practices designed to enhance efficiency and increase production.
The hybrid is created by cross-breeding a channel catfish female with a blue catfish male. What results is a fish that exhibits significant advantages when compared to conventional farm raised catfish. Strengths unique to the hybrid include:
- Superior growth rate and production
- Enhanced disease resistance
- Improved feed conversion
- Easier seining
- Higher dress-out
Auburn University is an equity partner in both Eagle and its parent company Aetos. Eagle retains sole commercial rights to the Auburn Hybrid Catfish Technology.
